Daniel C. Oliver was born in California, but grew up in Northern Virginia after his father began working for the federal government in Washington. Following his father’s footsteps, Dan graduated from Georgia Tech in 1988 with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dan moved to Orlando that same year to begin his first post-graduate job, working as a consultant for a national engineering management firm for 10 years.
It was in 1998 that Dan decided to pursue the practice of law on a part-time basis, and in December 2003 he graduated as valedictorian of his class from the Barry University College of Law. Dan passed the Florida Bar exam and was admitted for practice in April 2004.
While in law school, Dan worked as a part-time and full-time paralegal for a sole practitioner family law firm. After passing the bar in 2004, Dan continued the practice of family for that same firm as an associate attorney, soon expanding his practice to include estate planning and probate as well. Since joining the law firm of Caplan & Associates in January 2011, Dan has further expanded his areas of practice to include consumer bankruptcy.
Dan currently is a member of the Florida Bar Association, and is licensed to practice in both Florida state court as well as the Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is a past President and current Secretary of the Central Florida Gay & Lesbian Law Association, a voluntary bar association that provides support and resources to the community at large on LGBT issues. Dan is a former member of the Orange County Bar Association, and a former member of the Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court.
